Various locations in the Mary Valley

Join the locals in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and celebrate the creativity of the community with the coming of Spring. Scarecrows pop up in strange places, paddocks and even village streets as locals cobble together odd bits and pieces to shape a ‘crow for visitors to Mary Valley Country.

The scarecrows welcome visitors from October 8 and the festival winds up on October 31. You can download a Google map from the website and enjoy a new sport – scarecrow spotting. Simply plan a day trip from Conondale in the south and meander down into the Mary Valley via Brooloo, Imbil, Ridgewood, Kandanga, Amamoor, and Dagun. Don’t forget to stop for lunch at a country pub and pick up a coffee along the way!

The Mary Valley Scarecrow Festival began in Maleny in 1998, and scarecrows have been coming here in early spring almost every year since the late ’90s.
