ARTIST: Julia Kitto
OPEN: by appointment
Basketry artist Julia Kitto combines nature’s inspiration, imagination and the beauty of raw plant fibre with traditional basketry techniques to create contemporary and decorative sculptural art works that are functional and practical. Her woven works are mainly created from locally sourced plant materials such as lomandra, philodendron, cordyline, palms, cats claw, jacaranda, agapanthus, lillies, bananas, flax … with plants also being used as natural dyes, but Julia also enjoys utilising core rattan in sculptural weaving. Weaving connects us to country and culture with many variations in style across the globe. Learn how to create your own unique, functional pieces in one of Julia’s fun, hands-on workshops in her beautiful home studio on a Mon/Wed or Sat – 10 til 3ish! Suitable for all ability levels, or visit to view her range of sculptural weavings. You may be tempted to take home a one-off gift. Bookings essential.
