UNSPOILED BEACHES

This is an extraordinary part of the world.

We’re inspired by our stunning nature, our beautiful wide open spaces and our picture perfect beaches which stretch for miles and miles and as far as the eye can see.

White powdery sand and azure blue ocean reach all the way up to K’Gari Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island.

As part of Australia’s Nature Coast, we’ve got beaches galore – for the campers, the fishermen, the swimmers and for those who’d like to try a 4WD driver experience on the Great Beach Drive, our sand highway.

The Gympie Region. You’re welcome.

RAINBOW BEACH

Often ranked as one of the best beaches in Australia and rated as one of the best and most scenic in the world. We don’t need to holiday anywhere else with this beauty on our doorstep, so why would you go anywhere else? The towering sand cliffs with over 72 different colours provided the name for the town and the beach are just south of Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The complex array of sandy tones and hues are the result of iron oxide and leached vegetable dyes since the last ice age.

DOUBLE ISLAND POINT

Get off the beaten track and find yourself at Double Island, a pristine environment within the Great Sandy Marine Reserve and the UNESCO Great Sandy Biosphere. A wonderful playground that also offers one of the best surf waves in Australia and at low tide a protected lagoon named Honeymoon Bay. Remote access only by 4WD.

COOLOOLA BEACH

Part of the Great Beach Drive, from Double Island Point to Noosa you’ll find 60km of unbroken beach for you to explore by 4WD. With several beach dune camping areas and wonderful sunrises over the Pacific Ocean, you’ll soon see why it’s a favourite for those who want to get back down to earth.

INSKIP PENINSULA

A 15min drive north of Rainbow Beach, ‘Inskip’ is the southern gateway to K’gari Fraser Island, and it’s so close you feel like you can reach out and touch it. Vehicle access via a barge makes the short crossing to the island easy for a day trip, or stay longer. Inskip is also a popular camping spot, where you can pitch a tent or park your caravan amongst the beachside She-oaks.

TIN CAN BAY

If you are looking for something a little more laid back, then Kindy Beach is a lovely sheltered spot, and the perfect for a picnic and play in the calm shallows of the Great Sandy Strait. The protected waters of the Tin Can Bay inlet are a favourite for families, or those looking to get a little closer to nature with great opportunities to spot underwater creatures or do a spot of fishing.
