Eating Out

The Gympie Region is full of fresh food and produce. Here’s how to enjoy the best of it.

Take the time to scratch the surface and uncover an amazing array of options to eat out in the Gympie Region. From hearty pub fare, to chefs showcasing local produce, or a refined Italian-inspired coffee and cake experience, you are sure to find something to tickle your tastebuds.

Gympie City Café style

If it’s amazing coffee, great atmosphere and surroundings, and delicious food you are after when in Gympie City then you can’t go past a few of the local’s favourite spots. To get you started, Mary Street in the heart of town has some treasures. From Italian inspired cafe chic to good old fashioned family sandwich bars, there really is something for everyone. Take a stroll up Mellor Street towards the Historic Gympie Station and you’ll find a couple more options to tantalise.

The Southside of Gympie has some iconic cafe options, local marketplace offering the best of the region, and a tapas bar which is perfect for date night or heading out with friends.

Gympie City Fine Dining

Do you want something a little less café-style? How about an a la carte restaurant set in a magnificent historic Queenslander serving lunch and dinner. And if enjoy local produce starring on the menu then we suggest trying some of the local hotels that provide a menu that regularly changes depending on what’s in season.

Mary Valley

And if locally sourced ingredients are top priority when you’re looking for your next place to eat then the Mary Valley is your destination. With everything from farm to fork, you can shop for farm supplies, local organic produce and meat, and enjoy a treat or meal that has been prepared with ingredients that are sourced from within 100km of the kitchen. The Mary Valley has some great eating out options including bakeries, cafes and general stores.

The West

Go west they said and we agree – to Goomeri for an endless selection of specialty French pastries and breads. The country pubs and cafes of the towns in our west, including Woolooga, Theebine, Gunalda, Kilkivan and Goomeri, serve up hearty fare and hospitality and are important community meeting points for locals and travellers alike.

Seafoods

If you like seafood, then you will love our coast. Tin Can Bay produces some of the best seafood in Queensland – not that we are biased or anything! There are also some great spots to eat out, from some casual fish and chips to eat on the water’s edge to dining in style with water views. Try the cafes or hotel in Tin Can Bay, and in Rainbow Beach we suggest any of the cafes and restaurants in the heart of town, and nothing beats the view.
