Getting here and around the Gympie Region

Escape to the Gympie region – it’s easy!

Gympie is the region’s commerce hub. The city is located on main highway, rail and air transport corridors.

All roads really do lead to Gympie, making it the perfect launch pad to explore the region, including the Cooloola Coast – the gateway to Fraser Island, the Mary Valley hinterland and the western townships of Goomeri and Kilkivan.

Gympie is a comfortable two-hour drive up the Bruce Highway drive from Brisbane and a 40 minute-drive to Noosa. Hire car, 4WD, caravan and taxi services are available in and around the region.

Buses operate throughout Gympie and the Cooloola Coast, as well as intercity. Contact operator Polleys Coaches on 5480 4500 and visit polleys.com.au or qconnect.qld.gov.au to plan your journey and access maps and timetables.

Daily rail services operate to and from Brisbane, with the Gympie North Train Station located on state’s main north-south line. Check translink.com.au and qr.com.au for timetables.

The Gympie region is one hour’s drive to the Sunshine Coast Airport and two hours’ drive to Brisbane Domestic and International Airports.
